Audit, Evaluation and Improvement Planning

Using a supportive coaching approach, I will work closely with your phonics and early reading leader to audit and evaluate curriculum, resources and teaching. Together, we will then develop a focused improvement and action plan.

This work can include, for example:

  • review and analysis of the current intent statement, curriculum, chosen phonics programme and improvement plan;

  • review and analysis of assessment data and intervention and support approaches;

  • observation of teaching and discussion with staff to support self-evaluation;

  • review of texts used for children to practise their developing decoding skills, ensuring that they match closely to the school's chosen phonics programme;

  • review of connections between phonics and reading and other aspects of the whole school curriculum;

  • development of an improvement and action plan.
